Purpose of the Role

 

The purpose of the role is to grow the given enterprise in a B2B desk based environment.  The techniques required include assessments of opportunities and target markets, information gathering on customers and competitors, generating leads for possible sales, follow-up sales activity and formal proposal writing.  You will need to prospect a range of products and services to a high variety of businesses.  The BDM will constantly seek to deliver and exceed targets, have a strong focus on meeting and exceeding client expectations and have a high drive for delivering an exceptional customer experience.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Responsible for making proactive outbound calls to the SME marketplace in order to make contact with the appropriate business contact.

  • To build and maintain professional business relationships with customers to aid mutually beneficial relationships with a view to maximise business potential. 

  • To achieve sales targets and adapt to ongoing client and CPM requirements.  Targets may change from time and the job holder will be required to adapt to changes and requests from the business.

  • To become an expert within the campaign/designated area you are assigned to        

  • To focus on meeting Client and Customer expectations as standard and to continually drive to exceed them. 

  • Communicates professionally and generates enthusiasm about company, product and job

  • Plans and prioritises to complete all work to agreed timescales and in line with business goals

  • Build and manage a sales pipeline of business opportunities to agreed SLAs

  • Seeks to improve products, service levels, work process and information for all customers

  • Dynamic and creative, a make it happen individual

  • Remain proactive in meeting quality procedures and contributing suggestions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Attend briefing sessions (internally and externally) in order to gain understanding of Client requirements.

  • Attend necessary training courses (internal and external) to maintain a high calibre of telephone and database skills.

  • Highlight immediate or on-going issues and suggest possible solutions

  • Assist team manager were there is a requirement

  • Any other duties as reasonably required.

Knowledge and Experience Required

  • Proven and demonstrable record of extensive selling in a B2B environment

  • Ability to demonstrate business acumen

  • Demonstrable ability to work to challenging and stretching targets and deadlines

  • The ability to communicate effectively at a variety of levels. To actively gather and digest information in order to provide a consultative solution.

  • To produce professional high calibre proposals utilising a variety of platforms (word, excel, PowerPoint)

  • Resilient and determined approach to work with excellent customer focus

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Good PC literacy. Must be adaptable to new systems and processes

  • Educated to GCSE/O-Level standard including Maths and English

  • The ability to quickly and accurately capture and record information

  • Evidence of high level of attention to detail

  • Evidence of continued personal and professional training and development

  • Effective liaison with other departments to solve problems and build supportive working relationships.

  • Experience in developing and improving processes and procedures to ensure a superior service is delivered to customers.

  • Flexibility of working shift patterns within a standard working week over 7 days each week.

  • Willing to allow Clients, prospects and visitors to sit and monitor calls.
