Senior Rolling Stock Engineer

£75,000 per annum basic wage plus 15% bonus

Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia

 

Key Accountabilities
Action statements identifying the key priorities / deliverables required for the role to contribute to business success.

·         Provide engineering expertise and knowledge to improvement the operational performance of Locomotives and Rollingstock , including fault analysis and rectification.

·         Undertake engineering Locomotive / Rollingstock design changes or modifications.

·         Manage the fleet reliability improvement processes, systems and programs.

·         Manage component testing processes and programs, including validation of fault rectification programs.

·         Manage the fleet configuration process, information and records.

·        Interface and liaise with suppliers and customers in technical and commercial matters pertaining to engineering programs and fleet/component performance.

·         Development of engineering specifications.

·         Investigate mechanical failures to determine causal factors and rectification solutions.

·         Develop and implement engineering/technical solutions.

·         Undertake incident investigation and preparation of technical reports.

·         Represent the division on internal/external operational and technical forums.

·         Develop and manage the division’s technical standards requirements.

·         Project Management engineering projects and contracts.

 

Qualifications & Key Experience
The qualifications and experience both essential and desirable an employee requires upon commencing in the role

Formal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Mechanical

Professional Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

  • Problem solving skills
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Experience in reliability and maintenance engineering.
  • Experience in asset management and condition assessment
  • Rollingstock knowledge

Desirable

  • Project and contract management experience
  • Experience in quality and compliance auditing.
  • Ability to develop a working relationship with production/maintenance/reliability engineering personnel and use their skills to help develop effective designs
  • Self motivating individual able to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Ability to apply engineering solutions with regard to Rail Safety, OH & S policies and industry standards.
  • Sound knowledge of PC based software including the Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project Manager and the ability to use drawing software such as AutoCAD.

Key Knowledge Areas

  • Knowledge of Coal wagons and locomotives would be highly

Ideal Experiences

  • Knowledge and experience in rolling stock performance, terminal operations and train operations.
